Infor Volunteers Help Elementary School Students Prepare for the Future Infor Announces Partnership with Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest

ST. PAUL, Minn. -  Mar 25, 2014

Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced that employees in its St. Paul, Minn., office will partner with Junior Achievement of the Upper Midwest (JAUM) to help teach the basic principles of economics and entrepreneurship at elementary schools throughout the city. JAUM is a non-profit organization that works with more than 150,000 elementary, middle and high school students throughout Minnesota, North Dakota and western Wisconsin to teach the core concepts of business, effective money management and college and career readiness. Approximately 90 Infor employees will sponsor a different elementary school in St. Paul each quarter to help teach JAUM curriculum to students.

"Partnering with organizations like Infor helps us to promote our mission in more schools, impacting the lives of more students," said Gina Blayney, president and chief executive officer, JAUM.  "Infor, like JAUM, is passionate about what they do, and we look forward to providing students with face-to-face access to their employees and expertise."

Infor plans to launch this initiative on May 1, 2014, when its business development team in St. Paul will teach students at Lake Phalen Elementary School for the day. An underperforming school by state standards, Infor will help reinforce the concept that these students can impact the world around them as future contributing members of the workforce. Infor's senior director of Global Business Development, Megan Dahlen, also plans to serve on the JAUM Project Lead Advisory Board, which is comprised of established and emerging leaders from the local corporate community.

"JAUM is preparing today's youth to succeed by teaching them skills like financial literacy and career success that they might not necessarily learn in standard courses," said Megan Dahlen, senior director, Global Business Development, Infor. "We look forward to promoting JAUM's cause and expanding their resource pool by volunteering the time and knowledge of our employees."

Infor is committed to helping organizations such as JAUM, Habitat for Humanity International, the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society improve the lives and communities of people around the world. Since its acquisition of St. Paul-based Lawson Software in 2011, the company has demonstrated continued commitment to its local employee base of more than 550 and to the community through projects like its partnership with JAUM.
