Looking to transform your supply chain and save money? Hear Generac Power Systems tell you how they did.
Is your warehouse struggling with:
Generac faced these same challenges and sought to implement a new supply chain strategy that would streamline its operations and save costs. Hear Brian Randleman, logistics manager at Generac, share how his company achieved this goal by creating a new finished goods distribution center and implementing a warehouse management solution (WMS) and a transportation management solution (TMS)— and developing a clearly defined, revenue-generating plan to secure approval.
Once the TMS and WMS were in place, Generac had to switch from 47 years of a "ship as the orders come in" mentality to a planning-based approach. As a result, the company has been able to reduce its manpower needs in the warehouse and improve its fill rates, inventory control, and customer satisfaction ratings. On-time ship rates are now over 90%-up from 35% to 40% three years ago. Its freight as a percent of sales (FPC) decreased by 18% from the previous year, saving the company $2.6 million in 2009. The company is now able to save more than $1,000,000 annually. An integrated transportation management solution also helped to cut costs and reduce freight damage.
"Using our supply chain solutions, we can optimize our logistics to achieve the best possible savings while still meeting customer demands."
Brian Randleman, Logistics Manager, Generac Power Systems.
