Build efficiency and reduce costs with analytics

Data Lake, Data Warehouse, and Data Mart. There are so many terms and options that have surfaced over the past few years that healthcare organizations often find it difficult to determine what their big data strategy will be—and in many cases all of the above are part of that strategy.

One commonality seen across healthcare organizations is the critical need for access to data in an inexpensive, real time, secure fashion. The fact that there are multiple data sources and vendors providing cloud solutions can complicate and confuse the direction of the right data strategy.

However, healthcare-specific services are expanding with leading providers of these services—like AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, and Google—continually positioning themselves as a safe bet to build around. Once you have selected a provider there is a catalog of service depth that is extremely important. For example, AWS has been established as a leader in microservices and there are many partners that compliment what AWS has to offer.

Recently, Infor announced a partnership with Snowflake, the cloud data platform, leveraging an efficient way for organizations to streamline data to a cloud-built data warehouse with a powerful presentation layer using the Birst full-stack analytics and BI platform. Birst and Snowflake both run natively in AWS, which speeds data processing and querying, while avoiding the need to export data out of Snowflake.

Transferring data to a customer’s on-premise data warehouse has been an ongoing discussion for some time. Snowflake, being a cloud-based data warehouse, eliminates that need and pushes related costs out of the healthcare organization’s brick and mortar, providing more innovative ways to report on the key objectives of the business.

The deep functionality of Infor CloudSuite Healthcare, industry-leading Birst analytics, and the partnership with Snowflake—all running on AWS—increases efficiencies and eliminates costly data transfers back to on-premise or to alternate data sources as prescriptive structure and streams encompassed at AWS.

Additionally, deeper access control and Protected Health Information (PHI)/Personally Identifiable Information (PII) can easily be secured by eliminating many connection points as data would transfer in and out of numerous sources without a packaged service like Infor’s.

Infor Birst, Snowflake, and Infor’s industry-specific CloudSuites all leveraging AWS provides a reliable platform to build upon while reducing complexity.
