Speaking to Deborah Norville at the famed Plaza Hotel in New York City during the Harper's Bazaar ICONS event sponsored by Infor and Samsung Galaxy, the legendary singer dished out advice to young women. Watch interview.
Looking radiant and sparkling, Carey, who has had more No. 1 hits than any other solo artist in history, shared some words of wisdom for young women to Inside Edition host Norville.
"Just be yourself and do everything you can for yourself while you can do it," the multi-talented performer said.
"Follow your dreams and never give up," she added.
Carey spoke from the black carpet outside the Grand Ballroom of the Plaza Hotel, which for the second year in a row played host to the Harper's Bazaar ICONS party sponsored by cloud software leader Infor, Samsung Galaxy, Kit and Ace, and Covergirl.
The event, the hottest ticket during New York Fashion Week, celebrates icons of fashion chosen by Carine Roitfeld and photographed by the legendary Jean-Paul Goude. Carey, along with Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, and Lucky Blue were among this year's featured icons.
The highlight of the event was a performance by musical superstar Katy Perry. Kendall Jenner, Kim Raver, designer Manolo Blahnik, Kate Upton, New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft, Infor CEO Charles Phillips and his wife, Karen Phillips, and Jaden Smith were on hand as Perry belted out hit after hit, opening with "Roar" and closing with "Firework."
