PARIS (Inforum) - Nov 03, 2015
Infor, a leading provider of beautiful business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, today announced that Travelodge, the UK's largest independent hotel chain with over 500 hotels, has chosen Infor SunSystems to support its UK operations as it continues to grow its business.
To be deployed in the cloud, and hosted by Amazon Web Services (AWS), the application will help streamline operations by focusing on financial reporting, procurement, invoicing and financial management across the estate.
Infor SunSystems was chosen because of its hospitality industry-specific capabilities including USALI compliance, and Infor's deep domain expertise within the hotel industry. Travelodge opted for a cloud deployment as it removes the need for on-site hardware at each hotel, and because it can scale in line with the company's ambitious growth plans.
Travelodge will also use the Infor Professional Advantage iPoS Procure to Pay Solution and Infor V1 Document Management. These will be integrated with Infor SunSystems to accelerate bank reconciliation and invoicing processes.
Nick Taylor, Director of Operational Finance of Travelodge said, "As the UK's largest independent hotel chain, we are a growing business. We have recently invested £100 million upgrading our hotels with a new contemporary brand look and feel. We have exchanged contracts for more new hotels in the first half of 2015 than we did for the whole of 2014, and we have plans to open in at least 250 further locations over the years ahead. To support these growth plans we need a world class operations and financial infrastructure and by working with Infor SunSystems via a cloud model we are able to do exactly that."
"The budget hotel market has substantial room for growth in the UK," said Wolfgang Emperger vice-president, EMEA & LATAM, Infor Hospitality. "A critical part of achieving success in this market is to streamline local operations at the hotel itself and then centralize and accelerate as much of the back-end as possible. Technologies such as optical character recognition scanning and automatic bank reconciliation all contribute to this success, especially when they are delivered via the cloud and can scale quickly as a business grows."
Founded in 1985, Travelodge is the UK's largest independent hotel chain, operating over 500 hotels and approximately 38,800 rooms across the UK, Ireland and Spain.
Over 17 million people stayed with Travelodge last year, with over 75% of all reservations made online at www.travelodge.co.uk, which attracts almost one million visits each week.
The company has embarked on a strategy to build a new Travelodge that is Britain's favorite hotel for value. A major part of this is a new contemporary look, including a luxurious bespoke king-size bed called the Travelodge Dreamer, which is being delivered through a £100 million nationwide modernization program. To date, over 95% of Travelodge hotels in the UK incorporate this new modern look, and all Travelodge rooms across the UK now feature the Travelodge Dreamer bed.
