That’s how we roll
Inforum kicked off with a Welcome Reception and Grand Opening of the Hub on Sunday evening, July 10, where arriving attendees got a first look at Inforum’s sponsors and exhibitors, participated in demos and speed sessions, and engaged in user testing at the Hook & Loop User Experience Pop-Up Lab, helping to inform the development of future Infor products.
Opening General Session Day 1 (Monday, July 11), Infor Chief Operating Officer Pam Murphy arrived at the Javits Center astride a Triumph Motorcycle. With the iconic British manufacturer’s upcoming attempt to break the land speed record serving as an example of how organizations use Infor software to drive change and gain competitive edge, Murphy introduced the theme: "Our Customers Kick Ass." CEO Charles Phillips then took center stage to deliver a keynote address describing how, in the current climate of upheaval, Infor is uniquely positioned to innovate with its customers and transform industries, because Infor is designed for progress.
Making headlines—and strategic partnerships
New products unveiled on the main stage included Infor IoT, an initiative to move into the age of collected intelligence; Infor CloudSuite Federal, one of the first public sector solutions to meet new FedRAMP compliance standards; and H&L Digital, a new Infor division that will provide end-to-end digital cloud solutions.
Infor also announced its intention to acquire checkout and clienteling software leader Starmount, and an alignment with BackOffice Associates to speed customers' moves to the cloud. And, at General Session Day 2 (Tuesday, July 12), Senior Director of the Infor Education Alliance Program, Martine Cadet, discussed Infor's partnership with City University of New York (CUNY) and ongoing initiatives to develop and educate the next generation of talent.
Excellence in Action Award winners for 2016
Chief Customer Officer Mary Trick revealed the winners of the 2016 Infor Excellence in Action Awards, who are celebrated for driving innovation and showcasing exceptional results in business performance using Infor solutions.
Infor welcomed to the stage representatives from First Transit, CERN, the State of Hawaii, Albuquerque Public Schools, Hackensack University Medical, J.R. Watkins, Synlait Milk, Ltd., Samra Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Mattress Firm.
A lot to see, a lot to learn—and a lot to enjoy
Throughout Inforum, activity continued both within the convention center—and outside of it. Wikibon founder Dave Vellante and senior analyst George Gilbert interviewed several Infor and enterprise thought leaders on theCUBE, from SiliconANGLE.
Complementing the breakout sessions and learning academies offered at Inforum, the Women’s Infor Network (WIN) sponsored a special session: "Tipping Points: Diverse Perspectives on Change" featured designer and architect Neri Oxman, journalist Lara Logan, human rights worker Nontombi Naomi Tutu, and skier and BASE jumper Karina Hollekim. The four shared remarkable and inspirational stories about negotiating critical moments of transition.
A few "conferences within the conference" took place during Inforum week, too. Unique events included Infor Partner Summit 2016 and Bridges 2016—a thought leadership forum for supply chain experts, hosted by GT Nexus, an Infor company. In addition, more than 350 C-suite customers participated in Executive Forum.
And all Inforum attendees got a chance to rock out on Customer Appreciation Night, enjoying a special performance by Grammy Award-winning musical guest Maroon 5 that brought the house down—and punctuated the most successful Inforum yet.
