Blessing Hospital Meets Stage 2 Meaningful Use Criteria with Infor
Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 73,000 customers, today announced Blessing Hospital's success with the Infor Cloverleaf Integration Suite, Infor's enterprise-caliber integration platform, and 15-year anniversary using the application. Blessing Hospital, located in Quincy, Ill., serves a 15-county area covering southeast Iowa, northeast Missouri, and western Illinois, and has 300 beds, a medical staff of more than 240 physicians, and a team of more than 2,000 employees. Blessing has gone from two threads, which include all inbound and outbound protocols or translations, to roughly 200 threads over three Cloverleaf sites in 2014, and has been able to partner with other local hospitals to contribute Meaningful Use-certified health information exchange data through Infor Cloverleaf to the community.
Since deployment, Blessing Hospital has seen numerous financial and operational benefits by working with Infor. Now processing nearly three million messages a month, the organization has seen enhanced implementation and reduced project risk through Infor Cloverleaf's ability to interface on the front end of the patient financial system integration. Other benefits include:
- Improved revenue cycle and reduced days in accounts receivable by 30 percent
- Improved point-of service collections by roughly 33 percent
- Decreased days not final billed by 32 percent and an overall reduction of Medicare denials and rejections
- Improved clean claims rate from below 70 percent to around 90 percent
"The maturity of the product and the research and development investments Infor has made in the Infor Cloverleaf application have made Infor Healthcare a long-term partner for Blessing Hospital," said John Frazee, integration analyst, Blessing Hospital. "Over the years, many of our user suggestions have been incorporated at a high rate into future releases of the product, and those enhancements have helped us improve efficiency and workflow."
Infor Cloverleaf has been able to help Blessing Hospital meet health information exchange criteria for Stage 2 Meaningful Use to facilitate the electronic movement of health-related information among internal and other external healthcare organizations and address ever-changing requirements within the healthcare industry and the Affordable Care Act. In addition, Blessing Hospital has also been able to better mitigate risks associated with implementing a patient financial management system and transformed data from the organization's new patient financial management system into HL7 formats and messages so downstream systems can better understand it.
The Infor Cloverleaf Integration Suite is a leading clinical integration and information exchange solution that helps to create a sustainable foundation for healthcare organizations to proactively manage, coordinate and share data across the care continuum. With the Cloverleaf Integration Suite, healthcare organizations can aggregate disparate information systems and data, inside and out, regardless of the source system, message format or transmission protocol.
"Successful healthcare organizations need to have a sustainable foundation to proactively manage, coordinate and share data across the care continuum," said Mike Poling, vice president, Healthcare, Infor. "Infor's healthcare-specific applications work to exchange patient information more efficiently and securely, so organizations can focus on the more important tasks, such as improving the speed and quality of patient care."
