Day of Toil = Fulfillment for Infor Manila Habitat Volunteers
A day toiling under the sun and an aching body by evening are not conditions we normally associate with fulfillment. But for Infor Manila volunteers, these are proofs of a day well spent.
Since 2013, Infor Manila has partnered with Habitat for Humanity - Philippines on a total of eight builds at four locations. Habitat aims to end poverty housing worldwide by building or renovating simple, decent houses in partnership with volunteers and those in need.
As Infor's organizer of Habitat for Humanity builds around Manila in 2015, Marj Geonzon, development manager, was bombarded by increasing fervor among employees to join the volunteer effort. So she prompted the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) committee to arrange more builds in 2015.
The first two were held Oct 13 and Oct 23 in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City, where Infor volunteers helped paint 31 apartment units.
The second set of build days were held Nov 13 and Nov 27 at Bistekville 5, Barangay Payatas, Quezon City. At this site, Infor volunteers performed heavier work, including sand sifting, shoveling and construction.
Infor has more than 1,000 employees in the Manila area, and almost 200 of them volunteered in 2015, demonstrating Infor Manila's commitment to giving back to the community.
