Infor Allies with Wroclaw University of Science and Technology
Infor, a leading provider of beautiful business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, today announced that it has started co-operation with Wroclaw University of Science and Technology within the Infor Education Alliance Program - an initiative to co-operate with universities around the world. Wroclaw University of Science and Technology's students can now gain practical skills in modern IT systems and the associated certificates before joining the labor market. Soon, the company will launch an internship program for the University's students.
Infor, which works with 90,000 customers in more than 200 countries, has donated 50 licenses of its world-class ERP software and instruction materials for students and lecturers free of charge. Infor CloudSuite Industrial Machinery software, which is built for the cloud and targeted at the discrete manufacturing sector, manages the manufacturing process, service and other crucial operations such as financial management and coordination of suppliers.
"We appreciate the exceptional quality of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology's education, and this was of crucial importance for our decision on opening Infor's Center of Excellence in Wroclaw," says Artur Sawicki, Manager of the Wroclaw's Center of Excellence. "The University is the first Polish academy we invited to Infor's Education Alliance Program. We are convinced that the co-operation will allow the students to gain practical skills with ERP software. In the next phase, we will launch an internship program, and offer work for the best graduates. By 2018, Infor's Wroclaw Center of Excellence will have created 500 jobs in total, and we hope some of these will be from the University."
The agreement with the University was signed in March. In the first phase, 50 students of Computer Science & Management Faculty (Management department) where studies are conducted in English will join the Infor program. The students have already been using the Infor software, and they also have access to former, completed projects (case studies) associated with the software, and are allowed to use Infor education materials. In October, another 200 students of the IT Engineering department will join the program.
"Access to the full version of Infor's software will help our students to leverage their skills and, at the same time, they will develop their position as they enter the labor market," says engineer Adam Wasilewski, PhD, from Computer Science & Management Faculty, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology. "We are satisfied that within the co-operation we have permanent access not only to world-class solutions, but also to expert practitioners who will be invited to conduct workshops for students. The classes will start in the new academic year and will be led by Infor's programmers and developers."
