Infor Asset Management Solution Selected by Genesee & Wyoming
Infor, a leading provider of industry-specific cloud applications, today announced that Genesee & Wyoming (G&W), which owns or leases 122 short line and regional freight railroads worldwide, has selected Infor Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) in the Cloud as its global asset management software.
Infor EAM was selected following a tender process based on its alignment with the transport and logistics industry and in-depth functionality. Once live, Infor EAM will support both linear assets, such as railroad track, and rolling stock assets, such as locomotives and railcars, enabling G&W railroads to gain access to deeper, more timely insights which will facilitate more tailored maintenance planning.
"Assets are at the heart of our business and as an industry leader and innovator in our sector, we are always looking at how we can improve the service we offer, whilst ensuring we are operating as efficiently as we can," comments Tim Shakerley, European Engineering and Safety Director of G&W's Freightliner subsidiary, which operates around 100 daily intermodal services across the UK and handles over 770,000 containers per year. "The cloud-based, mobile-enabled capabilities inherent within Infor EAM will allow us maximum visibility across all of our key assets, delivering greater precision in our planning for optimum service at the lowest cost, while at the same time ensuring we meet the many and varied regulatory requirements that our industry is subject to."
"For any business in the transport and logistics sector, effective management of assets is intrinsic to profitability," comments Kevin Price, Technical Product Evangelist, Infor EAM. "The ability to comply with safety, legislative, training and International Organization for Standardization (ISO) requirements is key to demonstrating best practice in asset management, while the depth and detail of insights into equipment performance are hugely valuable in improving decision-making and ensuring that their lifespan and performance is maximised to its potential."
