Infor Japan Momentum Builds with New President, New SaaS Strategy
Since Infor appointed Mitsukuni Iio as president of Infor Japan in November, he has quickly laid out a plan to morph from an ERP company into a SaaS vendor.
"I have visited customers of Infor Japan, and found that expectations are increasing, along with the motivation of employees. I am confident we can change in a short period of time," Iio says.
Iio graduated from Colorado Mesa University, in Grand Junction, Colorado, and previously worked for Lenovo Japan, Hewlett-Packard, Oracle Japan, and Teradata Japan.
At a recent briefing for media and analysts, Iio presented his business strategy to deliver SaaS via Infor industry CloudSuites. Infor CloudSuites run on Amazon Web Services, with “last-mile” functionalities for nearly 20 industries. In Japan, the focus verticals include automotive, fashion, food and beverage, distribution, and manufacturing.
Iio noted that one of Infor's strengths is its ability to quickly integrate solutions from newly acquired companies. Infor Japan will launch Birst—Infor’s recently-acquired cloud-native business intelligence (BI) tool and analytics platform—and GT Nexus supply chain network in early 2019, with Infor Coleman AI to follow.
With the new SaaS lineup, Infor Japan will target medium and large companies. Iio plans to strengthen direct sales and promote alliances with partners. He said Infor Japan will start training programs in Japanese to strengthen localization.
"We will train 100 newly-certified technicians in 3 years," Iio said.
Iio says he also plans to raise the voice of Japanese customers to Infor headquarters in New York, and create an environment that provides the best for Japanese customers.
“Japan is a market with great potential,” says Helen Masters, Infor general manager of Asia Pacific. “Iio will help contribute not only to Infor’s business, but to our customers’ business, as well.”
