Inforum Gives Back to New York

United States – July 19, 2017, 12:00 PM

Inforum wasn't all just fun and software. Infor's flagship customer event July 10-12 at the Javits Center in New York City also brought a variety of opportunities to give back to the local community. Inforum attendees, sponsors, vendors, partners, and Infor itself shared their bounty in appreciation of the host city and its people.

Donated 6,000 pounds of food to City Harvest. Excess nutritious food from Inforum events was redirected to City Harvest, to help support local communities, feed the homeless, and reduce the environmental impact of food that would otherwise go to waste. City Harvest will collect 55 million pounds of excess food this year and deliver it free of charge to 500 soup kitchens, food pantries, and other community food programs across the five boroughs.

Donated the IoT Speedway racetrack to the Boys & Girls Club of New York. The Boys & Girls Club provides thousands of kids with a supportive, nurturing environment where they know someone cares about them, and helps them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.

Donated two bins of ladies clothing and accessories to benefit Bottomless Closet. Inforum attendees were encouraged to bring items to donate with them, and the response was enthusiastic. Bottomless Closet provides professional clothing, job readiness, and employment training and coaching services to economically disadvantaged women in New York City.

Dolce & Gelato Catering donated "a bounty" of gelato to Cancer Center for Kids at NYU Winthrop Hospital. With state-of-the-art equipment and a highly specialized multidisciplinary team of physicians, the Cancer Center for Kids offers a wide range of early detection, diagnostic, intervention and treatment services, both inpatient and outpatient, on par with the nation's best cancer treatment programs.

Centerplate composted 2,600 gallons of material. Centerplate at Javits Center was Inforum's food service vendor. Through its innovative sustainability efforts, the Javits Center is working toward a greener future.
