Jackson Health System Automates Contracting and Sourcing with Infor

United States – September 21, 2015, 09:00 AM

Infor, a leading provider of beautiful business applications specialized by industry and built for the cloud, and Jackson Health System (JHS), a public healthcare integrated delivery network based in Miami, Fla., with six hospitals and 2,106 licensed beds, today announced a partnership to improve the sourcing of products and services and better control how contracts are created, managed, and monitored across the system. Using key pieces of the Infor Supply Chain Management for Healthcare suite, Infor Lawson Strategic Sourcing, Infor Lawson Contract Management, and Infor Supplier Order Management, JHS will be able to offer clear tracking and analysis for auditing, and place proper controls on spending limits.

The use of Infor solutions has helped eliminate manual, paper-based procurement processes by implementing online supplier procurement notifications, electronic bidding, negotiations, and responses to supplier inquiries. In addition, accounts payable staff and suppliers have gained more centralized, web-based access to shared views of financial and supply chain information, giving JHS team members the tools to spend less time validating data, and more time on productive activities such as data analysis and decision-making.

"Before we rolled out our Infor solutions, everything was manual at Jackson Health System. This was our first step toward automating processes, developing a centralized file for vendors, and using electronic bids and RFPs," said Rosa Costanzo, vice president and chief procurement officer, Jackson Health System. "The introduction of these applications has resulted in a more efficient and accurate contracting and sourcing environment for both our internal customers and the vendor community."

Infor Lawson Strategic Sourcing was designed to help simplify the process of doing business with suppliers and vice versa, and delivers tools to save an organization time through the full sourcing lifecycle - from bid creation through award. In addition, Infor Lawson Contract Management helps make it simpler, faster, less expensive, and more secure for an organization to create, manage, and monitor contracts. Infor Supplier Order Management provides self-service visibility into supplier invoice and payment history to an organization's diverse supplier base.

JHS has a strategic objective from its board of directors and is mandated by the community to ensure equity in contracting as the organization spends a community-approved bond to upgrade Jackson facilities. The tools from Infor will allow greater visibility and transparency into suppliers who participate in Jackson's bidding process, especially if vendors self-report as Minority and Women-Owned Business Enterprises (MWBE). With Infor, JHS looks forward to fostering broader supplier participation, receiving higher quality responses, and stimulating greater competition to help the organization meet its strategic sourcing goals.

"Healthcare organizations need to transform the role of procurement from purely managing orders to handling more strategic responsibilities, and break down the silos of sourcing, inventory, payment, distribution, and analysis," said Mike Poling, senior vice president, Infor Healthcare. "With Infor, organizations can standardize and automate processes, monitor and control spending, manage supplier relationships, and ensure every step within the supply chain flows unhindered into the next - delivering a quicker, more responsive procure-to-pay process."
