RIDI Sheds Light on Sales with Infor BI
Infor, a leading provider of business application software serving more than 70,000 customers, today announced that RIDI, a manufacturer of technical lighting, will implement Infor BI, complementing its existing investment in Infor M3. With Infor BI, RIDI will gain deeper insight from the sales of the approximately 9,000 products sold under its three brands RIDI, RIDIhomelight and Spectral.
The decision to introduce a new BI solution was mainly triggered by the end of the light bulb. In recent years, RIDI switched its production at its three production sites in Germany from conventional lights to LED. However, the products have such a short life cycle that RIDI needs to constantly check which products are still selling and what generation is already outdated and therefore should not be part of stock any longer.
Although RIDI used Infor M3 functionality and an open source solution for analysis, the growing variety of products, new customer groups and new market segments required a powerful, dedicated BI solution to process the complex correlations for sales management and make them transparent. A flexible licensing model allows RIDI to use the consolidation, planning and budgeting functions of Infor BI in future when needed.
"We benefit from the fact that both our ERP and our BI solution come from one source. When importing data, the solution helped to detect errors, thereby improving the quality of data," says Volkhard Loebich, IT Director at RIDI Leuchten GmbH. "When selecting the solution, it was important to us that we would be able to provide data for ad-hoc management queries with a small IT team in a short timeframe and to send reports to selected recipients via PDF. A major advantage of the approach was that the system would not only support reporting, but also the planning."
"We used to have to process many individual queries. With Infor BI every user can now pull individual information for himself," explains Volkhard Loebich. "In future, we will become much faster in our analysis and decision-making processes, because IT will be able to provide the necessary data from a centralized source instead of processing data anew each and every time a request comes in."
