In a Chicago hotel basement, Infor Cloverleaf developers are huddled with 500 others, collaborating on healthcare systems connectivity.
They're at the 14th annual Connectathon North America running Jan. 28 through Feb. 2. It's the healthcare IT industry's only large-scale interoperability testing event. Connectathons are held annually in Asia, Europe and North America, run by the nonprofit group Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise.
This year, more than 500 systems engineers from 100-plus companies and organizations are gathered in Chicago.
Besides collaboration, the Connectathon is also a proving ground. Only solutions that receive qualifying scores at Connectathon are permitted to participate in the Interoperability Showcase at HIMSS13, the annual conference and exhibition of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society coming March 3-7 to New Orleans.
