How Infor’s shared responsibility model became a force multiplier for Idaho
The Idaho State Controller’s Office manages financial, workforce, and operational systems across 90 state departments. Decades of fragmented, homegrown technology had left Idaho agencies struggling with rising security costs, obsolete systems, and siloed data.
The state needed more than new software. It needed a partnership model. By deploying Infor CloudSuite™ Public Sector in the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)-authorized Amazon Web Services® (AWS®) GovCloud, Idaho established a shared responsibility framework: AWS secures the infrastructure, Infor™ manages application services and platform availability, and the state governs identity and access controls.
"There's this force multiplier in communicating and planning with others. You can overcome a lot because you don't have to do it by yourself," said Scott Smith, Chief Deputy Controller for State Controller of Idaho.
This transformation delivered:
- A statewide benefits provider transition completed 15 months faster
- Stronger security through FedRAMP-authorized controls and continuous monitoring
- Built-in redundancy that replaced manually maintained backup systems
- Greater visibility to track performance and streamline processes
