International Women's Day profile: Bhuvaneswari Subramani

Bhuvaneswari Subramani is a hero, in many ways, from her skills in technology to her ability to inspire others. Recently, Bhuvaneswari was recognized by the AWS hero program, an initiative by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that spotlights and awards a vibrant worldwide group of AWS experts, whose enthusiasm for knowledge sharing has an impact on the community. AWS Heroes organize AWS Community Day events, which are community-organized, cloud education events featuring technical discussions and demos led by expert AWS users and industry leaders from around the world. Bhuvaneswari is the only woman from India who has received this honor so far.

Bhuvaneswari is a director in engineering operations, focusing on DevOps (covering Build & Release Automation, ALM Tools Administration, Cloud Migration) and Performance QA for Infor Nexus product. She joined Infor in 2012.

“I have been closely associated with the AWS User Group Bengaluru, organizing, hosting & presenting in many community-led learning events and also got to present in various AWS Community Day conferences, AWS re:Invent 2019 DevChat, various technical conferences & deliver Guest Lecture at Engineering Colleges,” she said. She further added that the #WomenInTech, who gets motivated during her technical presentations aspiring to indulge into the deep tech-world, inspires her to continue conference talks.

Bhuvaneswari is also an active supporter of the Women’s Infor Network, WIN. In honor of International Women’s Day, IWD, she wrote a poem that summarizes her advice to fellow women in technology:

Take a bold step to accomplish your goal:
Think of the worst to come and be prepared,
Rest will fall into place.

Fear not for failure:
The road ahead is not made of rose buds;
You might find obstacles on the way;
But they are to strengthen you further,
So face them with valor.

Build I can do it, attitude:
It's not about being over confident;
But keeping your spirits high at all times!
Don’t let anybody's empathy takeover your "self";
Stand up for yourself!

Continue to be a voracious reader to broaden your perspective,
To be more creative & to have a relaxed mind,
To gain a deeper appreciation of the world &
To enrich your conversational repertoire.

Cherish the blessing of being a woman - every moment;
But, never forget to thank the men, who have been behind your success,
Be it your father, brother, spouse, teachers, friends, or colleagues.
