In the hospitality industry, the present informs the future when it comes to technology. It’s also shaped by cultural forces and world events. The ways in which these vital factors affect technology trends in hotels, guest experiences, and even how leading hotel groups respond themselves are key indicators as to what the future of the industry will be.

Around the time of this year’s HITEC, our friends at Hospitality Net hosted interviews and panels that asked three Inforians about the relationships between hospitality technology and industry trends, and how they affect the landscape now, and how they will likely shape the industry in the near future.

Where the hospitality industry is headed: Jason Floyd

Jason Floyd is an industry veteran, and Senior Vice President and GM of Infor Hospitality. His passion for the hospitality industry has endured over 24 years, driven by his belief that technology empowers success. That central idea has always been at the forefront of his approach in support of a wide spectrum of hospitality organizations.

Alan Young of Hospitality Net interviewed Jason and asked him about his background, his approach to working with industry leaders, and where he thinks the industry is headed in parallel with emerging technology in the next 12 to 18 months.

A new era for the hospitality industry and how hotels must respond: Michael Schubach

World events since early 2020 have fundamentally changed the way consumers approach many areas of their lives, certainly including travel and leisure. Further to that, technology has been integral in changing human dynamics all the while. How do these forces converge? What are the major changes to the way hotels do business in terms of both new technology and in approaches to the guest experience? What must every organization take on board to meet the new era of the hospitality industry?

Michael Schubach, Chief of Staff & Industry Strategy of Hospitality at Infor joins a panel of experts and talks about what the shape of this new era really looks like, how it’s moved on from where it was, and how hotel groups must respond to serve guests as a result. Watch the discussion here.

Hospitality technology providers working side by side with hoteliers

As technological and cultural factors change the landscape, hospitality technology providers must stay connected with the needs of hoteliers, and to respond to trends in hotels that point to where the industry is going. In discussing the issues and the forces that affect everyone’s success, it’s great to know that meetings of the minds help to make things better for everyone.
