Innovation among disruption

With COVID-19 surging, hospitals working to ensure they had space, supplies, and staff ready to support patient demand, Children’s Health, Dallas turned to digital processes to meet the challenge. Along the way, they worked quickly, and responsively, to reinvent processes and create new opportunities and ways of operating.

Children’s Health's use of technology during the pandemic’s global disruption helped the organization garner a Customer Excellence Award, in what is hopefully a one-time-only category, presented during this year’s Inforum virtual conference: Innovation in the Time of COVID-19.

For Children’s Health, the stress and impact of COVID-19 were seen most significantly along its supply chain, especially when it came to the availability of personal protective equipment (PPE). The ability to replenish gloves, masks, gowns, and other critical supplies became increasingly difficult, time-consuming, and expensive. That’s when Children’s Health employed Infor Birst intelligence and analytics platform, along with Infor Supply Chain, for a more detailed view into critical supply inventories. Birst analytics provided actual, reliable, use rates to inform how protocols might need to be adjusted to preserve PPE.

With the PPE dashboard, Children’s Health now has a robust toolset to look at critical items in multiple time categories, individually across all of its hospital campuses, and at the system level. This same Birst dashboard provides the supply chain team with accurate insights into which products are needed, now, and which can wait.

Turning a challenge into opportunity is the essence of innovation and we have seen it among many of our clients during this pandemic. Infor has been honored to be a partner in healthcare to not only enable operational continuity in the face of immediate, monumental challenges but to help our customers excel and transform traditional practices for the long-term.

On behalf of the entire Infor Healthcare team, congratulations Children’s Health!
