Gartner IT Symposium/Xpo 2026: Day 4 Highlights with Infor: Humans and AI agents, one coordinated system

Gartner closes the week with Emerging Trends Vision 2027, where Frank Buytendijk explores how human-AI relationships will evolve as AI brings agency to technology. He describes AI as a "toolmate" that people work with every day, which matches our belief that people remain accountable while AI helps them do their best work. The sections below show what that looks like in practice.

Trust grows when people stay in control of AI decisions

Buytendijk's questions, from who owns AI to how organizations overcome fear, are the same ones our customers ask. The data shows that comfort is growing. In the Infor™ Enterprise AI Adoption Impact Index, 54% of leaders said they are comfortable with agents executing critical processes, and only 11% prefer humans to make high-stakes decisions with no AI input. At the same time, 44% report that AI-generated insights and workflows still need expert review.

Many organizations start with human approval and expand autonomy as results build confidence. Alicia Thompson, CTO of Team Air Distributing, describes her work with Infor Forward Deployed Engineers as turning operational challenges into practical improvements, "building trust one process at a time." Infor's approval workflows, agent permissions, and audit trails support that expansion, and Day 3 explains how they work.

Infor Adaptive UX brings the work to the person

Human-centered AI reduces the number of screens people need to navigate. Infor's Adaptive UX assembles a personalized, role-aware view that brings the bill of materials, quoted price, and delivery date into one place, so people can review and act in a single step. Customers are seeing up to 90% time savings across procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and sales.

People can work through the Infor GenAI Assistant or through the AI assistants they have already adopted. This is the Easy to Use pillar of Infor Industry AI, and it shares the same industry context and governance as every other pillar.

Your next 90 days can build on what Gartner's week highlighted

Across the week, Gartner's sessions pointed to a shared conclusion: AI delivers the most value when it is grounded in industry context, guided by a clear roadmap, and governed from the start. Our Day 1, Day 2, and Day 3 highlights explore each of those ideas, and Day 4 brings them together around the people who work with AI every day. Three steps can help you put them into practice:

  1. Map your starting point. The AI Readiness Assessment takes about two minutes, and an Infor specialist can turn your results into a 30-day roadmap.
  2. Start with one proven use case. Infor Velocity Suite is how we deliver the agentic enterprise, and Forward Deployed Engineers build alongside your team. Team Air Distributing deployed three AI agents across finance, operations, and onboarding in under two weeks, and its Credit Agent now saves more than 2,000 hours each year.
  3. Govern from day one. Infor GRC builds accountability into every agent action.

Looking further out, our Day 1 session shared a view that IT will become the architect of the builders by 2035, and the people who learn to work with AI agents today will be well prepared to lead that shift.
