Interoperability innovation delivered: the new era of health IT

The COVID-19 pandemic put a spotlight on challenges facing healthcare organizations with respect to interoperability. The ability to quickly navigate HIPAA pathways in an emergency, to give public healthcare organizations access to needed information, was absent.

As a result, healthcare delivery organizations are exploring their digital strategy, and how that strategy can align their clinical and technology perspectives going forward, with interoperability playing a huge part. In this video, hear from Mickey Tripathi, the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology at the US Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the founding president and CEO of the Indiana Health Information Exchange. Mr. Tripathi discusses how interoperability affects the coordination and outcomes of patient care; how to get a 360-degree review of the patient as they proceed along their journey outside the hospital walls; and how the development of nationwide networks can provide the ability to have exchange of a continuity of care document among care providers.
