As healthcare IT leaders continually find themselves at the intersection of what’s best for the organization, patients, and the entire industry’s future, the Advisory Board recently surveyed 84 CIOs about Health IT and their priorities and challenges.
The results weren’t surprising, but they did reveal the complexity of what CIOs face today. They were asked questions about everything from value realization to regulatory programs. I was pleased to see that Infor—in both healthcare and across industries—has successfully anticipated what these CIOs articulated as most important to them.
The top five areas of high interest for the survey respondents were:
1. Foster a data-driven culture at my organization. (59.6 percent)
How Infor helps: Infor Cloudsuite Financials, Infor Supply Chain Management and Infor Human Capital Management are all built with healthcare-specific analytics that provide real-time, role-based data.
2. Develop and prepare leadership for IT's evolving role (54.9 percent)
How Infor helps: Infor Workforce Management and Talent Science both focus not only on optimizing the current workforce, but also how to enable succession planning and the ability to mine current talent for new or changing roles. Plus, our cloud solutions offer customers the ability to always be current on the latest product release. This helps IT remain nimble and capable of constantly evolving to meet current and future regulatory changes.
3. Build a mature analytics program that delivers better value in clinical and administrative settings (52.9 percent)
How Infor helps: While Infor Clinical Bridge connects operational and clinical systems, Birst analytics for Healthcare offers unprecedented, predictive analytics for everything from labor spend to demand forecasting.
4. Use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to generate high quality predictions and intelligently automate processes (50 percent)
Infor AI technology that processes data through networked business intelligence tools, analytics and machine learning for better, more informed decision making.
5. Understand applications and use cases for emerging technologies and communicate potential challenges (49 percent)
How Infor helps: This is where Infor takes the technology and adds the people expertise needed so that IT departments understand all of the capabilities of their applications. I believe this is one of the most important differentiators we have in the industry. The technology can’t work without people that have the right expertise and training.
I am pleased that Infor’s work has left us well aligned to the most common concerns of today’s healthcare leaders, especially as the industry continues to rapidly evolve. Do any of the above concerns sound familiar to you? Or is something else keeping you up at night? I’d like to hear from you.
